Our Five Step Method Leading to a Diamond of Remarkable Quality
Several times a year, our experienced diamond buyers travel overseas to review the newly available diamond rough. They examine each piece individually, it is during this process that the shape and size of each diamond is determined. The selected rough is then passed on to the polishing process. First, “windows” are polished on the girdles of the rough crystals in order to locate any flaws, stones or knots. Then the designer marks the stone to indicate where it should be cut.
The larger pieces of rough are often divided to create several pieces of rough to polish. The proportions created in the "sawing" process are determined by the designer. Each "Sawer" observes several machines at once, keeping a close watch on the stones being sawed. He examines each of them carefully through a lens during the procedure.
These pieces are placed into a “Bruting” machine that shapes each stone into a circular outline, taking off the edges of the original rough diamond.
The final phase is the cutting phase. We have a team of highly skilled diamond cutters and polishers in Tel Aviv, Israel who “block” and “brillianteer” each diamond. "Blocking" is the art of creating the main 8 facets on the crown and pavilion of a diamond. "Brillianteering" is the process by which the remaining facets and the star facets of the crown are placed. This process determines the diamond's shape and reveals it's fire and brilliance.
After the diamond is polished, cleaned and evaluated, it is ready for certification by a reputable lab. Each stone is evaluated for cut, color and clarity, and carat weight.
